The Robert F. Schaper Heart Center is a comprehensive cardiac care center dedicated to the discovery, management, and control of cardiac disease in the adult population. The Robert F. Schaper Heart Center consists of three cath-lab rooms, pre and post-op areas, ECHO, stress and nuclear cardiology departments, as well as cardiac rehabilitation. In addition, Tomball Regional Medical Center's observation unit closely monitors possible chest pain patients that come through the emergency department.

With cardiovascular disease being the leading cause of death in the United States, the Robert F. Schaper Heart Center is poised to utilize specialized resources to treat heart disease—from prevention programs to diagnostics, treatment and a rehabilitation program that prepares heart patients for their journey to better health.

Accomplishments

CRUSADE – Duke University

Tomball Regional Medical Center is recognized as one of the top ten percent performing hospitals in the country in cardiac care, according to a recent study commissioned by Duke University: a leading educational researcher in cardiovascular disease and treatment. The program, named CRUSADE measures more than 600 hospitals nationwide on their responsiveness, diagnosis and treatment of chest pain patients arriving at a hospital's emergency department. The Outstanding Care Award is given to only those hospitals with the best treatment practices and outcomes.

JCAHO Gold Seal of Approval

More than 60,000 patients have been monitored nationwide and this award has only been presented to a handful of hospitals, with Tomball Regional Medical Center being the first in the nation to be awarded the Gold Seal of Approval by the Joint Commission Accreditation Healthcare Organization (JCAHO).

JCAHO has more than 50 years of recognized and respected experience and expertise in evaluating clinical care quality in all types of healthcare settings and the professionals at Tomball Regional Medical Center are proud to achieve this distinction and recognition from both JCAHO and CRUSADE on their cardiac program.
