Cancer can be detected early. Some tests that aid in early detection, include, but are not limited to…

  • Breast Cancer - Mammograms
  • Cervical Cancer – Pap Tests
  • Colorectal Cancer - Stool test, Sigmoidoscopy, Barium Enema, and/or Colonoscopy
  • Endometrial Cancer - If you are a high-risk cancer candidate, discuss available screening tests with your physician
  • Depending on age, physical exams may need to be done for signs of thyroid, testicular, ovarian, lymph node, oral or skin cancer.

Heart Disease is the number one cause of death for women. There are many risk factors attribute to heart disease. Some risk factors that can’t be changed include: gender, family history of heart disease, age and race. However, there is good news. Menopause is not the end of the road. It is a normal stage in every woman’s life where they embark on a new journey, typically occurs between the ages of 40 and 55. It is typically a slow transition over a period of time where a woman can experience mild or severe symptoms.   • Daily exercise
  • Low-fat, high fiber, calcium rich diet
  • Restricting consumption of caffeine, alcohol, sugar or salt
  • Vitamin/Mineral Supplements as indicated by your physician
  • A good nights rest

Osteoporosis is a disease that causes your bones to become thin and weak. Bones that are weak are much more likely to fracture, especially in the hips, spine and wrist. Bone loss occurs slowly over time, without symptoms, until a bone breaks. Fortunately, Osteoporosis can now be diagnosed before fractures occur by measuring bone density, and beginning treatment early can prevent fractures from occurring.

Urinary Incontinence: Loss of bladder control is treatable – don’t let it run your life. Women between the ages of 15 to 65 can be affected by urinary incontinence. Less than half of individuals consult their healthcare providers about this problem, often because they lack sufficient information about what bladder management options are available. Urinary incontinence can be caused by aging, childbirth, menopause, surgery, obesity and many other factors.
